Story Artist
Artist Statement
My main objective since becoming an artist is to tell a story. As a kid I've always day dreamed about heroes, drama, and battles and would use my action figures as a medium to express those stories. When it was time to choose a major as a path for my career, I decided to major in Art and Animation in 2013. Even though I had taken art classes in middle and high school, I didn't take drawing seriously until I went to college, and I had to learn what it really took to become an Artist.
I graduated from California State University of Northridge in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Animation, however since graduation I found myself shifting focus from animation into illustration. More specifically, creating comics. I gravitated towards the pen and ink and found myself creating sequential art as a way to tell a story. Even though I wouldn't be animating, I still will get to tell an intimate personal story that will show my personality through my art. Animation requires a team, and this way I would have full control over my story, art direction, it's world, and it's characters before it can be animated. "BETA HERO" has been the result of all the media I loved as a kid from movies, animated super hero shows, cartoons, and video games.
Black and white imagery always fascinated me and for the longest was my preferred way to illustrate. Though its only recently I decided to incorporate color in some of my pieces to communicate certain ideas. I'm more fond of traditional art such as ink, dip pens, brush, and paints, though I am familiar with digital programs, the skills can be interchangeable between them. In spite of these mixed medias, if I want my artistic vision to be seen, I use pen and ink. My celestial series, or "The Big Ones" are an insight of my artistic identity. It tells the story of these giant detailed celestial creatures roaming the universe in search of who they truly are.
Most of my art takes place in space, whether in my boards, comic, or my personal artwork. I truly believe anything is possible out there. Civilizations, Race, Creatures, it's the ultimate fantasy to create your own world, and an insight to who you truly are.
I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.
